Fluid Venting System - Hydrocarbon Leakage Indicators

This video shows the 3D image of a fossilised methane gas conduit (i.e. authigenic derived carbonate) formed along a bivalve's burrow with the bivalve being well conserved. It was discovered at a methane seep site in Southern Taiwan.

This bivalve is identified officially as Anodontia Goliath in scientific literature, and it has been mainly interpreted as Loripes Goliath for a long while by the Taiwanese local community. This methane authigenic derived carbonate tube with a bivalve is a unique example in the world according to our knowledge.
